Thank You

2011 has proved to be an exceptional year for the Ian Daly Swim A Mile With A Smile. Our swimmers and sponsors have managed to raise €37,000 for Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin www.cmrf.org and Barretstown www.barretstown.org. This is a significant increase on the €36,000 we raised in 2010. This brings the total raised since the Ian Daly Swim A Mile started in 2003 to over €384,000. So a big thank you to our swimmers who dipped into the water in pools all around the country and faced the challenge of swimming a mile in aid of Child Cancer Care. We have had many people come back to us to say how proud they are of completing the challenge and raising funds for two very worthy causes as well.

Again this year we had a fantastic response from schools across the country. Thank you to all the schools who took part. Many adopted the swim as an activity into their Transition Year programme. This is something we would love schools to do again in the 2011-2012 school year. We are available to visit any school around the country to explain how they can be part of our swim in 2012. So if you are involved in a school as student, teacher or parent then why not get your school to join in the Ian Daly Swim A Mile With A Smile. You can contact us on info@swimamile.ie or on 086-6006887.

So a big thank you to our family and friends without whom we could not run this event. With your help we can continue to help fund care for child cancer sufferers and their families. Whether this is through the research work being completed by Dr. Michael Capra, Consultant Oncologist in Crumlin and his team or through the care and support provided by Barretstown for seriously ill children and their families we hope the result will be the same, a brighter future for everyone.
